Who we are

What we collect

When you register, we collect your email address and first name. Your reading preferences (theme, font, text size), age confirmation, and your position in a story are stored in your browser and are not sent to us. Our servers keep standard technical logs (including IP address) for security and to operate the service.

Why, and the legal basis

We use your email to send you a one-time sign-in link and to keep you signed in so you can read full stories. We use your first name to greet you. The lawful basis is performance of a contract (providing the account you asked for) and our legitimate interest in running a secure service. In future we may use the categories you read to suggest stories; we will update this policy before we do.

Cookies and local storage

We set one cookie, rmh_session, after you sign in, to keep you signed in. It is strictly necessary for the service and is not used for tracking. We also store functional data in your browser (rmh-18, theme/font/text-size preferences, and per-story reading position). We do not use analytics, advertising, or any third-party tracking cookies.

Who processes your data

We use Postmark (Wildbit/ActiveCampaign) to deliver sign-in emails, and Cloudflare to host the site and store account data. They process data on our instructions. Fonts are served from our own domain, so no third party sees your visit through them.

How long we keep it

We keep your account until you ask us to delete it. Sign-in links expire 15 minutes after they are issued and can be used only once.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, delete, or export your data, or object to our processing, by emailing privacy@effing.technology. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Age

This service is strictly for adults aged 18 or over. It contains explicit written fiction. Every character depicted is an adult and all content is fictional.
